Edit Related Anime Adaptation:. Dennou Coil , Dennou Coil. So if you liked Noein, check out Dennou Coil. Even though the storylines of these series are pretty different, both Dennou Coil and Noein and unique, innovative series with elements that you don't see very much in most anime.

Both have a similar feel to them, involve high technology, and contain common thematic elements. What at first glance seems to be a children story turns out to be involving well written story with a twist.

Writing is convoluted and infodumbing. Characters are developing throughout the series. Great production quality especially motion animation.

Finally there's imaginative and original setting. Both have a heart-warming story about friendships, and maturity.

The cast of characters involve a journey into the realizations of adulthood - although this is more apparent in Noein than it is in Dennou Coil.

The animes also take a slower pace at developing the story, and setting, but unravels it very gently. Also have a science fiction setting, and involves delving into the pros and cons of technology.

Digimon Tamers add permalink. Imagine Digimon Tamers' first arc with better animation and without the mandated toy tie-ins, and you'll basically have Dennou Coil.

A group of children have secret adventures in a world where computer-generated artificial creatures interface with reality, and clash with the adults who want to regulate and control that world.

While Dennou Coil lacks Tamers' monster battles and apocalyptic themes, both shows tackle psychological issues with the same respect for their child protagonists.

In Dennou Coil as in Tamers, children are explored as full human beings, and neither show pulls it's punches when it comes to showing children going through bad things.

The shows also share a stong sense of place and community. Read recommendations by 6 more users. They are notable for being rather serious and realistic for shows featuring child protagonists, but also have their light-hearted and humorous moments.

Both involve children being forced into adult situations by the influence of digital entities. They both explore the characters' pasts, why they act the way they do now, and what the digital world had to do with it.

Both have to do with misunderstandings between parents and children and friendships with things that may or may not be real.

Similar theme of the relation between a group of children and a world of technology, though it doesn't have fantasy monsters, the animation is much more modern and the story a bit more mature while staying light-hearted enough.

Both explore interesting themes and questions about virtual reality and consequently, reality itself.

All through the eyes of well written kids. The atmosphere and themes are very similar. In Dennou Coil augmented virtual reality is integrated into everyday life and the virtual spaces and creatures people interact with are a similar concept to Digimon's.

The protagonists are Japanese schoolchildren around the same age as the Tamers main cast, who have to deal with a mystery surrounding these virtual spaces and also the question whether the cyber creatures can truly live and feel.

Shinsekai yori add permalink. Both are about a group of children with special powers fighting the system and searching for their purpose.

Read recommendations by 5 more users. Both have the same eerie atmosphere plus strange mixture of sci fi and some supernatural mystery.

Both series has that mysterious aura feeling to it involving a group of children in a futuristic world. In that world, there is supernatural events that is surrounded with mystery.

There exists a theme of science fiction involving the power of the mind in both series and dealing with a "system".

Both series' cast of characters have similar age groups with developed knowledge of their abilities.

Both shows treat their female characters very well and are set in rich, well-constructed, dystopian worlds. They both have mysteries at their core which are really well-written.

Strange occurances in a futuristic and different science fiction-based world, and a group of kids are left to uncover the mysteries on their own.

Things are not what they seem. Each group in each show has powers, or enhancements. Odd technological creatures that shouldn't exist in the world, but do.

Haibane Renmei add permalink. While the settings are vastly different Futuristic computerized city, verses rural small town the over all themes dealt with in the two series are very similar.

Loss of loved ones and learning to move on, understanding what is real and what is fake, etc. Haibane Renmei and Denno Coil may seem very different at first glance, HR taking place in an environment deprived of modern technology while DC focuses on the borders between reality and the internet but the spirit of both shows is remarkably similar.

Both deal with young female leads who must learn how to adjust to unusual circumstances surrounded by mystery in a world where things are not as they at first may seem.

The original take on this theme is enhaced by thoughtful moments and a subdued but very lush artwork. What truly seals the deal in establishing a kinship between the two titles is the relationship between two young girls: a certain emotional healing takes place in HR and DC, providing excellent character development through and through.

In both these series, the ultimate conflict involves an emotionally damaged girl having to come to terms with her past trauma through the help and friendship of another girl.

The latter parts of both series have a similar mood. They are both about young people coming to trust others and move on from the past.

Endearing, believable cast of characters combined with a surreal setting that both warms and chills the viewer, makes these two more similar at heart than any other series that are recommended.

There are strange parallels in characters. And o much kindness in both titles! Small, personal stories of drama and exploration set in a fascinating, "big" setting.

Both are likely to leave you wanting to find out far more about the world they take place in than is revealed while following the footsteps of only a few people in it and their limited viewpoint.

Dennou Coil is soft sci-fi; Haibane Renmei is spiritual fantasy. Shinreigari add permalink. Read recommendations by 4 more users.

Same atmosphere and mysterious "unseen worlds" like parallel dimensions. In Dennou Coil it's virtual reality, home of cyberpets while in Ghost Hound it's the home of ghosts.

There are kids in both series who try to discover these worlds. Involves kids living a second, overlayed "meta" reality without the full awareness of their parents, or participation of adults.

Ultimately, their activities relate to something going very wrong and spilling over into the real world.

In both animes the unknown beings are similar. The characters are both a young group of kids who are curious and get into lots of trouble and somehow they discover something beyond their knowing.

In both series, there is a gap between fantasy and reality that is explored. Both series make a connection with its character cast similar age range and takes a setting in a somewhat utopia like world.

From that world, there is supernatural and mysteries that surrounds the events presented throughout both series. Both series features layers and layers of mystery, some which are unique and becomes a source of plot device in both series.

Quite a rare gem worth checking out. Made in Abyss add permalink. Both have kids investigating something mysterious.

Both have great animation above some TV Anime. Both have similar character design. Among the anime I've seen these 2 probably share the most similarity in an overarching sense.

Both have rich and fantastically elaborate worldbuilding that continues to surprise the viewer with mysteries and secrets until the end.

Also, the young characters and initial child-like wonder belies some rather dark and bittersweet themes. The kids in both cast are written well and realistically which I find rare in anime.

Both have distinct animation style and quality even though the art looks simplistic. And let me just emphasise again how incredibly original and imaginative they are!

Aside different settings - Dennou Coil more science fiction and Made in Abyss an engaging fantasy adventure - but both share a curious, adventurous and youthful main cast as well as the driving force is a heartily girl.

Both series let their little heroes go through life's bitterness-sweetness, with disappointments and hardships. The story lines in both shows are well written, offering the opportunity on the one hand just to watch and enjoy or, on the other hand, to watch attentively and think about the questions and thoughts raised.

I would like recommend both anime because IMO both are worth your time. Both the anime depicts the small kid investing unknown domain which contains unknown threats and lesser adult intervention.

Both the anime provides us with a sense of adventure and mystery which is well maintained. Paprika add permalink.

Cyber world, technology and it's influence on real world. Read recommendations by 2 more users. They're both present philosophy by using the example of advancing technology.

Headspace Scifi. Summer Wars add permalink. Both involve cyber warfare and the outcomes affect the real world. Similar animation both are by Madhouse and both have got high technology.

Dennou Coil is a show that shares many common themes with some other sci-fi works I watched previously. But for now, I will be focusing exclusively on Summer Wars.

Laster on I will probably create a recommendation for the rest. Firstly, focusing on the animation and sound, it can be noted that Summer Wars and Dennou Coil were both animated by Madhouse, so the characters designs, especially face and expressions have some similarities.

Over-the-top and cheerful, while also having a more violent animation in specific moments of the story and also using a bit of CGI, but it wasn't bad.

The soundtrack is also quite fun and cheerful aswell, while a bit darker on some occasions on Dennou Coil. Now focusing on what really matters, in the two universes, there is a futuristic type of technology that people rely on their daily routine.

In Summer Wars the plot starts with a case of cyber-hacking and account theft, while in Dennou Coil the plot starts with a mystery related to missing people "lost on the other side".

At the start, both stories are pretty cheerful and the technology creates a utopian world, but problems arise later on and the group of kids of the respective anime has to save the day.

The most important message you get from Dennou Coil and Summer Wars is the importance of family and the power of friendship.

The message might be pretty innocent and simple, but the themes explored in the movie and anime are a bit dark, especially in Dennou Coil. Bokura no add permalink.

High quality sci-fis. Both series contain sci fi themes and revolves around kids being the protagonists dealing with strange conflicts in their world.

Both series has mysterious atmosphere as strange occurrences takes place and contains psychological themes. Both series are unique, intelligent, and a good watch for those interested into more refined style of anime.

Both have a similar atmosphere though Dennou Coil is not as depressing as Bokurano , the character designs are very similar at least to me specially because of the dull color palette, and both involve a lot of children.

I first thought they had almost the same staff, but nope, they are just very similar. Penguin Highway add permalink. Charming suburban adventures of clever kids investigating mysterious phenomena in their communities.

Initially whimsical, ultimately dramatic. A bunch of smart kids solves the mystery with little help from adults. The kids are curious about sophisticated problems.

Both anime are science-fiction and show positive attitudes toward science experiments. In a nutshell, both anime have the very same feeling of mystery and despite fantasy subject matter realistic narration trough the eyes of children.

The source of the sci-fi mystery in both is different Dennou Coil: Cyberspace, Penguin Highway: Space-Time anomaly , but the effects on the real world are similar and both movies visualize them similarly.

There are many shared story elements in both anime. Protagonists are a group of children who find and research a mystery in their suburban world.

Those kids are clever and intelligent, yet have a child-like approach and way of thinking which makes it credible.

Dennou Coil is better at story telling and characters, Penguin Highway has superior animation. Both stories are a lot smarter and unusual than average anime plots.

Denno coil has more action and comedy the comedy is very present in the first half of the show,it almost completely disapears in the second half while.

Without giving too much information,. The whole time I was watching Dennou Coil, all I could think about was.

Dennou Coil had situations that made me concerned, afraid, and sad for the characters. These were the same feelings I had when watching this particular.

The story and animation are different, but I believe they have similar world concepts and moving themes. Mysteries hidden in the alleyways and streets of human civilization, secrets that people hold and forgotten memories.

Experiences that can be terrifying yet at times not so bad. If the part of Dennou Coil or Durarara!! Read recommendations by 1 more user.

Everything is ocmpletely different, but the feeling you get while watching Durarara!! In both of them, character development in great, there are some amazing plot twists and both of them are looking more into what happened in the past Celty's head vs.

Who's then what will happen in the future eg. If you liked iether of them because of the sotry and plot twists, you're definatelly gonna adore the other one as well.

Fullmetal Alchemist add permalink. The "encodes" used in Dennou Coil are very reminiscent of the enigmatic style of alchemy seen in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Interestingly the symbols and patterns, despite being apparently pretty much just magic, are justified as "science" and technology in both series.

Like Fullmetal Alchemist, Dennou Coil is also very much a "coming of age" story that has somewhat darker tones occasionally, especially towards the end.

I would recommend that fans of Fullmetal Alchemist watch an episode or two to see if they enjoy it. It only occurred to me several days after I'd finished Dennou Coil that it had some pretty interesting similarities to FMA not Brotherhood : - Both series explore very complex themes, such as meaning of humanity and the nature of reality, that becomes apparent over time.

They are both excellent anime, so anyone who likes FMA should check out the severely underrated Dennou Coil. Magical Slice of Life Adventure.

Plus both are excellent quality in terms of animation and story! Both stories have middle school girls as the main characters with a twist thrown in, the settings share a similar small-town feel and have very well done animation.

Dennou Coil is more serious and features science fiction elements while Kamichu! Both a very enjoyable and of great quality with interesting ideas.

Eve no Jikan add permalink. Both series immerse you in a future of day to day technology far beyond our own, yet taken from a perspective of rediscovering the wonder of said technology.

While Denno Coil's main cast is far younger than Eve, they both have their unique takes on what this future could be, and spin a story worthy of attention.

Both are hidden gems - you should take note of. Both series contain the sci-fi genre that are presented in a rather more unique way than the traditional types.

Both series focuses on technology that are utilized in an way that is considered peculiar but also at the same time, intriguing and hard to miss.

Both series also contain a strange similar feeling in that they bring forth science fiction in a way never seen before. Steins;Gate add permalink. They are both sci-fi anime and considered among the best of the genre.

Both are deep and are well-rounded they have comedy, sad scenes, happy scenes, intense scenes, etc. Two "weird" groups of young people having a normal life while using some type of experimental technology.

Granted, the technology used in each is very distinct, but both have some kind of futuristic elements not achieved by our current technology.

What makes Steins;Gate and Dennou Coil similar to me is the simple beginning with hints for a big mystery or conspiration that later develops throughout the story.

Apart from a similar mysterious aura and issues around these new and futuristic technologies and the consequences of its use, there are also calm or fun episodes that contrast with the dramatic and dark moments present in both shows.

Both also have share conspiracy elements. Character-wise, they are immature and childish at times, but serious when the situation requires and have some development.

Some characters have pretty unique designs and personalities, especially in Steins;Gate. Dennou Coil also has its share of realism and sci-fi that is closest to our current technology AR glasses but also has a big fantasy element that is "the obsolete spaces".

Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters add permalink. It's basically Dennou Coil meets Yokai Watch. There are many similarities from the AR fields, a protagonist that is more introverted and gentle, a focus on children's shenanigans with technology, but with the occasional helping of technology based nightmare and paranoia fuel, an antisocial hacker searching for their brother on the net, etc.

Not to mention that Digimon itself spawned from the virtual pet craze and the Yuko has a virtual pet in the form of Densuke.

Higashi no Eden add permalink. Towards the end, you will want to ponder about the world that they live in.

The side characters have realistic traits in contrast to other anime which uses them to "make the story more interesting" or as stupid lame ass comedians.

Another difference is while Dennou Coil's focus is more on adventure and mystery, Higashi no Eden is more on comedy, action and romance.

The overall feeling that you get from those pairing is just way too different. If you liked the adventure in Dennou Coil, or if you liked the action in Higashi no Eden, you will probably like the other.

Ghost Hunt add permalink. Ghost Hunt and D. Coil deals with a technological occurrences while Ghost Hunt is looking into the paranormal.

They both have great character development. Zegapain add permalink.

Dennou Coil Mega-baa also hosts an unofficial Vox Meylensteine agency called "Coil," a group of children around Yasako's age who find and handle corruption Jurrasic World 2 the virtual world. Planetes add permalink. Strange occurances in a futuristic and different science Jackie world, and a group of kids are left to uncover the mysteries on their own. What makes Steins;Gate and Dennou Coil similar to me is the simple beginning with hints for a big mystery or conspiration that later develops throughout the story. Plot Summary. Silent Witness Stream in the Shell is what some would call a 'hard' Lois Maxwell fiction, whereas, under the same Open Mic Berlin, Denno Coil would be considered a 'soft' science fiction. In order to hack into a corrupted virtual space in Helmut Zerlett, Fumie Hashimoto handles a software spray can loaded with so-called "black bug spray".

The two series take place in the not-so-distant future, with Dennou Coil being a couple decades from now with the influence of Augmented Reality glasses, and Planetes half a century with the space revolution reaching the general public.

Both take a realistic approach at handling these future technologies that isn't too over the top. Plot-wise, they take a light-hearted Slice-of-Life start for the first half, and a serious dramatic plot for the last half too.
